The undersigned party has been assigned three containers submitted for the purpose of admitting and retaining household goods, and has evaluated each against the applicable standard. The standard is not appended. It was formerly appended. Its location is no longer on file. Evaluation has nonetheless proceeded, per §4(a), against the reviewer’s internalized recollection of what the standard required, which is understood to be substantially complete.
A storage bin performs a function that is, on inspection, an administrative one: it decides what a household will keep, on what terms, and against which absent criterion. An item placed in a labeled clear bin is a retained item, its retention visible and therefore accountable. An item placed in an opaque bin is a retained item whose retention the household has agreed, provisionally, not to examine. The reviewer holds no position on which is preferable (see §7, which does not exist), but notes that the two are not the same, and that most households do not distinguish between them.
The three products below have each been found admissible under different conditions. The Vtopmart set is admitted for general household use where contents are to remain visible and accountable. The HYBRIDEAS set is admitted where stacking is required but the lower item must not, thereby, be forfeited. The Amazon Basics cubes are admitted where the goods are soft, the shelving is standard, and the household accepts that what it stores it must remember unaided. All three folded, stacked, or seated as represented. No finding of misrepresentation was recorded.
The reviewer will not tell the household what to keep. That determination lies with the household, or with whatever standard it has internalized and can no longer locate. The reviewer will state only that a good container makes retention a decision rather than an accident, and that a household that decides what it keeps is, by the reviewer’s absent measure, a household in good standing.
Findings recorded. Verdict: admitted, all three, on the terms stated. The matter is closed, pending no one.
